Pickett Sprouse Commercial Real Estate Facilitates Sale of Property

Durham, NC, May 26, 2021 – The remaining portion of the former Witherspoon Rose Culture site in Durham is now in the hands of new owners. On May 25, 2021, Pickett Sprouse Commercial Real Estate facilitated the sale of the approximately 4.3-acre site at 3330 Watkins Road for $6,812,500. Pickett Sprouse Commercial Broker Vernon Averett represented the Gonzalez and Howlett families of Chapel Hill in the sale of the property. Chris Howlett and Lou Gonzalez are the founders of Beacon Properties Group and Edward Lammas is a partner. The proposed use for the property is for approximately 300 apartments to be built there. The site is located just off Highway 15-501 at the intersection of SW Durham Drive and Witherspoon Boulevard. It is part of the Patterson Place Shopping Center. “This property is key to the continued growth of the entire shopping center, the surrounding area and Southwest Durham,” said Averett. “I am pleased that Pickett Sprouse could play a role in facilitating this type of pivotal development.” Commercial Real Estate Broker Dan Smith of 919 Commercial LLC represented Piedmont Patterson Place, LLC in the purchase of the property.
